Castel Mimi is the only chateau in Moldova and voted one of the most beautiful wineries in the world. It was built in 1893 by Constantin Mimi and has since then seen many evolutions, the most important being in 2015 when the world-famous architect Arnaldo Tranti transformed our chateau into the incredible tourist complex that it is today.

THE OLDEST BOTTLE OF WINE IN MOLDOVA
One of the many treasures in Castel Mimi’s cellars is Moldova’s oldest bottle of wine, a Bremen Ratskeller Apostol from 1727. The secret of its longevity is the honey that the German monks who produced it added as a preservative. This bottle is part of the UNESCO’s World Heritage Collection of wines.
KEEPING MOLDOVAN TRADITIONS ALIVE WITH OUR FOOD AND WINE
At Castel Mimi you can experience traditional Moldovan food at our restaurant or learn to cook your own traditional pies at our wood burning oven. You can try all indigenous Moldovan varieties on one of our wine tours and learn about the proud traditions we maintain in our winemaking process.
ROYAL VISITORS
Castel Mimi has welcomed many famous visitors over the years such as Russia’s last tsar, Nicholas II in 1914, Carol II, heir to the Romanian throne in 1925, and Crown Princess Mary of Denmark in 2016. We have also welcomed many politicians, business leaders, celebrities and artists from around the world.
